Shimmering Sunlit Waters

They were both feelin' weary of the city life
So they packed up their bags and said goodbye
Hopped in their old Pontiac headed North
To where the mountains touch the sky
Took a hard left turn off Highway 101
With the trust green chief leading the way
Through the tall evergreens
Down a winding country road
Yo their cabin on the lake is where they'd stay

Simmering sunlit waters
In shades of green and blue
Crimson red sunsets with rainbows hue
Shooting star moonbeams
Dance across the summer sky
Two lovers kiss and make a wish
Their dreams would never die

Wood smoke and cedar driftin'
Through the morning air
Coffee's brewin' pancakes on the grill
Birds in flight are calling
Then their echoes fade away
Rainbow trout splash on the lake so still
My love sit quietly by the water's edge
Pen and journal paints the morning time
As the fog begins to lift the sun begins to rise
The dawning of a day in perfect rhyme

Simmering sunlit waters
In shades of green and blue
Crimson red sunsets with rainbows hue
Shooting star moonbeams
Dance across the summer sky
Two lovers kiss and make a wish
Their dreams would never die

All their lives they had dreamed of this place
Now their hearts were finally home
Living with nature in bounty and grace
Their hearts would never roam
They were home

Soft August night on the front porch with guitars
Good red wine loving company
Songs and tales of long ago recall sweet memories
Tonight it's all in perfect harmony
Flickering candlelight casts an amber glow
Then slowly changes to a silver light
As the full moon rises over mountaintops above
The lake becomes a reflection of the night

Simmering sunlit waters
In shades of green and blue
Crimson red sunsets with rainbows hue
Shooting star moonbeams
Dance across the summer sky
Two lovers kiss and make a wish
Their dreams would never die

Simmering sunlit waters
In shades of green and blue
Crimson red sunsets with rainbows hue
Shooting star moonbeams
Dance across the summer sky
Two lovers kiss and make a wish
Their dreams would never die

They were both feelin' weary of the city life
So they packed up their bags and said goodbye
